Must-mustn't

1-Must:

USES:

We use must when the speaker thinks it is necessary or important to do an action:

  • You must go. = It is important that you go.

2-Musn't:

USES:

Mustn’t means something is prohibited or it is not allowed.
It is important that you do NOT do something.
In negative sentences we often use mustn’t to say that something is against the rules, or against the law:

Example:

  • You must not touch that.
    = This means it is forbidden to touch that.
    = Don’t touch that because it is not allowed.
    = It is important that you do NOT touch it.
